Bed Bug Services
Bed bugs have made a comeback and they are turning up in places that might surprise you. We have treated them in fancy hotels, hospitals, offices, movie theaters, book stores, etc.
Do you wonder why bed bugs are making a comeback? It’s because people travel widely and in larger numbers than ever before. When people travel they don’t think to look for bed bugs or know how to identify a bedbug. Bed bugs are small, easy to overlook, often come out at night, and can live for several months without eating, making them the perfect pest to stow away in
your luggage, bags, and shipping containers.
Identifying Bed Bugs
Adult bed bugs are about 1⁄4 inch long and reddish-brown in color, while immature stages, called nymphs, begin at 1/32 inch after hatching from the egg. Young bed bugs are flattened and appear more white to translucent, later yellow-orange in color, but after feeding will be plump and red. Fully fed adults are reddish-brown and shaped similar to a football. Bed bug eggs are sticky and deposited in furniture, walls, floor cracks, and crevices, and any other place a bed bug would hide.
Bed bugs need a blood meal to survive which means they do bite. Their bite is difficult to distinguish from a flea or mosquito because not all skin reactions are the same. Bed bugs bite skin that is exposed at night. Most often you will find the bites on the face, neck, arms, and hands. Not everyone experiences the same type of reaction to bed bug bites. The anesthetic that a bed bug uses to numb your skin, so you don’t feel the bite, may or may not cause a
reaction that you can see. If one person is experiencing blemish like skin irritation and the other is not it does not mean you don’t have bed bugs.
Please consider hiring Wheatland Pest to help you eradicate the bed bugs from your home.
